OPM Church Pledges Continued Support for University of Port Harcourt, Commends VC’s Track Record

The Omega Power Ministry (OPM) Church has pledged its continued support for the University of Port Harcourt and congratulated the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Chike Princewill, on his appointment as the University’s 10th Vice-Chancellor.

The church made this known during a visit to the University, where it commended the Vice-Chancellor for his achievements and expressed confidence that the impact he made while serving as Commissioner for Health in Rivers State would be replicated in his new role.

Speaking during the visit, the Founder and General Overseer of OPM, Apostle Chibuzor Chinyere, said the church would support the University and expressed his intention to undertake a project that would have a meaningful impact on the lives of members of the University community and the wider society.

Apostle Chinyere said he would consult with the University administration to identify an appropriate project and work with the University towards the development of a befitting structure that would add value to the institution.

The OPM General Overseer noted that the University’s national reach and longstanding reputation were among the strategic considerations behind the choice of the University of Port Harcourt for beneficiaries of the church’s scholarship programme.

He disclosed that OPM has students benefiting from its scholarship scheme at the University, adding that the decision to enrol them at the University was strategic, given its national spread and reputation for academic excellence.

Apostle Chinyere commended Professor Chike and wished him success in his administration, urging him to sustain the trajectory of achievements associated with his previous public service, particularly his tenure as Commissioner for Health in Rivers State.

Responding, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Chike Princewill, commended Apostle Chibuzor Chinyere and OPM for their humanitarian services, particularly their interventions in the lives of less-privileged, vulnerable and indigent members of society.

Professor Chike expressed appreciation for OPM’s support for the education of indigent students through the payment of their school fees, noting that such interventions provide beneficiaries with opportunities to improve their lives and pursue a more meaningful future.

Professor Chike welcomed the proposed partnership with the church and expressed the University’s readiness to engage with OPM on initiatives that would contribute to the development of the institution.
