Osun State University Breaks Ground on Landmark Alumni Hostel Project
In a major step toward addressing student housing deficits and deepening institutional ties, the foundation stone for the new Osun State University (UNIOSUN) Alumni Hostel was officially laid on Wednesday, March 18, 2026.
The project is designed to provide high-quality lodging and create a modern living environment that supports both the academic and social needs of the student body.
The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Clement Adebooye, performed the ground-breaking ceremony, describing the hostel as a symbol of the university’s evolving landscape. He lauded the Alumni Association for their proactive role in campus development, noting that such partnerships are essential for fostering a conducive learning atmosphere.
The National President of the UNIOSUN Alumni Association, Comrade Abubakar Abdulbasit Olalekan (Olokuta), emphasized that the project is a tangible reflection of the association's commitment to "giving back."
“This hostel demonstrates what can be achieved when alumni and university management work together. We are proud to contribute to a legacy that will benefit generations,” Comrade Olokuta stated.
Construction is slated for immediate commencement, with a projected completion window of 18 months. Upon completion, the facility will significantly expand the university's accommodation capacity.
