Prof. Kabir Haruna Danja Appointed DVC, Management Services at Federal University of Education, Zaria

As part of its continuous efforts to reposition the university, the Governing Council of the Federal University of Education (FUE), Zaria, has approved the appointment of Prof. Kabir Haruna Danja as the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Management Services.  

The appointment, which takes immediate effect, was approved during the Council's Second Quarter Meeting of 2026 held on 14th July, 2026, presided over by the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of Council, Amb. Baba Ahmad Jidda, OFR.  

Prof. Danja is a distinguished Professor of Development Economics with over three decades of experience in teaching, research, university administration and professional practice across Nigeria and East Africa.

Born in 1968 in Danja Local Government Area of Katsina State, he obtained a Bachelor's degree in Economics/Political Science from Bayero University, Kano, in 1994. He subsequently earned a Master's degree in Economics in 1999 and a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Economics in 2010 from the same university. He also holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) from Kampala International University, Uganda.  

He attained the rank of Professor in 2012 and has served in several higher institutions, including Kampala International University, Uganda; Umaru Musa Yar'adua University, Katsina; Kaduna State University; and the Federal University of Education, Zaria.  

Until his appointment, Prof. Danja was the Dean, Faculty of Vocational and Technical Education, Federal University of Education, Zaria. Over the years, he has held several strategic positions in the University, including Director, Directorate of University Advancement; Dean, School of Vocational and Technical Education; Head, Department of Business Education; Postgraduate Coordinator; and Chairman, Committee of Deans.

He also played key roles during the transition of the former Federal College of Education, Zaria to the Federal University of Education, serving on and chairing several strategic committees. Most recently, he chaired the Committee on Academic Staff Placement in Respect of Other Ranks as well as the Committee on Professorial Cadre Placement of Academic Staff.  

Beyond FUE Zaria, Prof. Danja served as Deputy Vice-Chancellor of Kampala International University, Dar es Salaam Campus, Tanzania. He also held the positions of Director, Institute of Research; Director, Postgraduate School; and Principal/Dean, College of Economics and Management Sciences at Kampala International University, Uganda. He is currently a Visiting Professor at ANAN Business School University, Abuja.

An accomplished scholar, Prof. Danja has supervised more than 50 postgraduate students at both Master's and Doctoral levels, in addition to numerous undergraduate and PGDE research projects. He is the author of several books, including _Essential Macroeconomics_, _Informal Economy at a Glance_, _Investment Analysis and Decision-Making_, _Principles of Economics_, _Entrepreneurship Today_ and _Research Methodology_. He has also published extensively in reputable national and international journals.  

His contributions to research include the successful execution of TETFund-sponsored research projects, participation in accreditation exercises for the National Universities Commission (NUC) and the National Commission for Colleges of Education (NCCE), as well as attendance at numerous national and international conferences and workshops.  

Prof. Danja is a Fellow and member of several professional bodies, including the Business Education and Entrepreneurship Association of Nigeria (BEEAN), Teacher Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN), Association of Professional Secretarial Staff of Nigeria (APSSON), Chartered Institute of Information and Strategy Management, and the Institute of Planning Nigeria.  

Presenting the letter of appointment, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Yahaya Isa Bunkure, on behalf of the Governing Council and Management of the Federal University of Education, Zaria, congratulated Prof. Kabir Haruna Danja on his appointment and expressed confidence in his ability to contribute meaningfully to the continued growth and development of the University in his new role as Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Management Services.
