The Edo State Government has announced the appointment of Professor (Mrs.) Eunice Eboserehimen Omonzejie as the new Vice Chancellor of Ambrose Alli University (AAU), Ekpoma.
The Edo State Government has announced the appointment of Professor (Mrs.) Eunice Eboserehimen Omonzejie as the new Vice Chancellor of Ambrose Alli University (AAU), Ekpoma.
The announcement was made in a special government statement signed by Umar Musa Ikhilor, Secretary to the State Government, who confirmed that Governor Senator Monday Okpebholo approved the appointment with immediate effect. Professor Omonzejie’s selection followed the recommendation of three names submitted to the Governor by the Governing Council of the university.

Professor Omonzejie, a renowned scholar of French and Francophone African Literatures, has served for decades in the Department of Modern Languages at AAU. She is a prolific researcher and editor, widely respected for her work in African and Francophone literary studies, gender studies, and cultural studies.
Beyond her academic contributions, she has played a key leadership role as President of the Ambrose Alli University Chapter of the National Association of Women Academics (NAWACS), championing mentoring, research, and advocacy for women in academia. She has co-edited several important works, including French Language in Nigeria: Essays in Honour of UFTAN Pacesetters and Language Matters in Contemporary West Africa. She is also the author of Women Novelists in Francophone Black Africa: Views, Reviews and Interviews.
Her appointment has been described by the Edo State Government as a testament to her academic excellence, administrative competence, and dedication to the growth and development of the university. The government further expressed confidence that Professor Omonzejie will advance AAU’s mission of producing world-class graduates and driving research and innovation.
