Professor Owunari Georgewill Celebrates Three Years in Office as UNIPORT’s 9th Vice Chancellor
Professor Owunari Abraham Georgewill, the 9th substantive Vice Chancellor of the University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT), recently marked three years since assuming office. The Vice Chancellor affirmed his commitment to further elevating the University of Port Harcourt with the assistance of the Federal government, governing bodies, faculty, students, families, and friends.
Professor Owunari Abraham Georgewill, the 9th substantive Vice Chancellor of the University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT), recently marked three years since assuming office.
In a post on LinkedIn, Prof. Georgewill reflected on his time in office, stating, "Exactly three years ago on July 13, 2021, following our appointment on 2nd July 2018 by the Governing Council of the University of Port Harcourt as the 9th Vice Chancellor of the University of Port Harcourt, we commenced our role as Vice Chancellor, University of Port Harcourt."

In his celebratory message, Prof. Georgewill acknowledged the challenges faced by the university and expressed gratitude for the support received from various stakeholders. He attributed the success achieved during his tenure to the Grace, Favour, Provision, Protection, Guidance, and Mercies of God, as well as the backing of the Governing Council, Management, Senate, Staff, students, and all stakeholders.
The Vice Chancellor affirmed his commitment to further elevating the University of Port Harcourt with the assistance of the Federal government, governing bodies, faculty, students, families, and friends. He highlighted the university's improved ranking, stating, "Today the University of Port Harcourt is in the top league of the 269 Universities in Nigeria."

While acknowledging that there is still work to be done, Prof. Georgewill emphasized the positive changes that have taken place under his leadership. He expressed optimism about the future of the institution and vowed to continue striving for excellence in all aspects of university life.
