UCH Management Pledges Support for Physiotherapy Sub-Specialisation During NSP Courtesy Visit
The Nigerian Society of Physiotherapy (NSP), University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan Chapter, paid a courtesy visit to the hospital’s management on Monday, April 21, 2025, at the hospital’s boardroom.
The Chairperson of the Association, Dr. Oyenike Ayo-Ogunseye, said the purpose of the visit was to introduce the newly appointed executives and to express their appreciation for the continuous support the Physiotherapy Department has enjoyed from the management of UCH.

She described the UCH Physiotherapy Department as the "mother of Physiotherapy in Nigeria". She also noted that, the NSP was the first of its kind in Africa. She stressed that maintaining this important position in Nigeria through staff advancement and training remains crucial.
According to her, UCH management has been supportive of staff training. She cited remarkable improvements and achievements recorded after the last training organised with the support of management, which has greatly increased in the health care services, rendered to Physiotherapy patients.
The Chief Medical Director, Prof. Jesse Abiodun Otegbayo, congratulated the newly appointed executives of NSP. He reiterated this present administration's commitment to staff training, patient comfort, and staff welfare. He also assured them of the management's support in sub-specialization reforms within the department as it keys into his administration's catch phrase, " Shared vision for Excellence".
