UDUS CSO Pledges Support for Sexual Assault Victims, Urges Them to Speak Out

The Chief Security Officer of Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto (UDUS), Mr. Abdullahi Gwandu, has pledged the university's support for victims of sexual assault on campus and urged them to speak out to ensure justice is served.

Mr. Gwandu reaffirmed the university management's commitment to reducing sexual assaults on campus and creating a safe environment for students. He emphasized the need for victims to report incidents, assuring them of confidentiality and support.

"We can't fix what we don't know," Mr. Gwandu said, stressing the importance of reporting incidents. He assured victims that the university would protect them and ensure justice is done. The university's resolve was demonstrated in a recent incident where a staff member was dismissed and handed over to the police after a female resident reported an assault.

The CSO also expressed concern over indecent dressing on campus, citing the need to promote modesty and adhere to the student handbook's dress code. The university's efforts aim to create a safe and respectful environment for all students.
