UDUS VC Urges Professors to Share Working Experience Before Retirement

The Vice Chancellor of Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto (UDUS), Prof. Bashir Garba, has urged professors who are nearing retirement to share their working experience through inaugural lectures.

Speaking at the 52nd inaugural lecture, Prof. Garba emphasized the importance of presenting lectures while still in service, rather than waiting until retirement.

The VC noted that adherence to this practice would be beneficial to younger colleagues, encouraging them to strive for academic excellence. He expressed hope that professors who are a few months or a year from retirement would comply with this practice.

Prof. Garba clarified that the university has not started taking lectures as valedictory lectures, and that professors who present lectures before retirement would have their lectures considered as inaugural lectures, rather than valedictory lectures.
