UNIBEN Alerts Community on Planned Power Outage Due to TCN Transmission Line Works
The University of Benin (UNIBEN) has notified staff and students of a planned power outage resulting from construction works by the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN).

The University of Benin (UNIBEN) has notified staff and students of a planned power outage resulting from construction works by the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN).
The project involves the Turn-In and Turn-Out of the Benin–Ajaokuta 330kV Single Circuit Transmission Line at the Ihovbor Power Plant Substation.
The outage will occur daily from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM for a total of 37 days, starting Friday, 27th February 2026 and ending Saturday, 4th April 2026. The affected feeders include:
- Egba 33KV
- UNIBEN 33KV
- Ihovbor 33KV
- Oluku 33KV
The Vice-Chancellor has directed that the University Community be informed, assuring that management will take measures to minimize disruption to academic and administrative activities during this period.
Members of the University Community are advised to plan accordingly and adapt to the temporary power interruptions.
