UNICAL VC Hails Outgoing Registrar, Says He is a Quintessential Administrator

This praise was given during a special valedictory event held in his honor at the UNICAL International Conference Centre.
Prof. Obi commended Mr. Egbe for his exceptional service, noting his dedication to the university's progress and his deep understanding of the institution's laws, policies, and functions. She emphasized, "The Registrar is the custodian of the University's laws, policies, and status, and knows his functions. He takes time to study and adequately provide information when called upon." She expressed confidence that his legacy would leave a lasting impact on the university and wished him well in his future endeavors.
In his valedictory speech, Mr. Gabriel Egbe thanked the management and staff for honoring his tenure, reflecting on the support he received from his colleagues and family throughout his time in office. He urged future leaders to display commitment and empathy in their roles, adding, "If you are leading, try to create an enabling environment for people around you and be part of your boss's success story."
The Deputy Governor of Cross River State, His Excellency Rt. Hon. Peter A. Odey, praised the outgoing Registrar for his exceptional service and dedication, stating that Mr. Egbe's experience would prepare him for more significant tasks in the future. The Speaker of the Cross River State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Elbert Ayambem, also congratulated Mr. Egbe on his successful tenure and called on UNICAL staff to maintain professionalism in their duties.
In his valedictory lecture titled "Contemporary Challenges in the University System and Coping Strategies," the Guest Lecturer, Senator Stephen Odey, addressed the pressing issues facing universities today. He stressed the importance of increased government funding for education and called on university management to be more innovative in generating internal revenue while managing limited resources prudently.
The Chairman of the event, Dr. Joe Edet, described Mr. Egbe as a professional with integrity who greatly shaped the university's administrative landscape. Dr. Citizen Ini Ekpo, Chairman of the Organizing Committee, praised the outgoing Registrar for his impactful tenure and commended the event for recognizing his dedication to both the Vice Chancellor and the broader UNICAL community.
The event culminated with the presentation of gifts to Mr. Egbe, followed by a cultural dance display, celebrating his outstanding contributions to the university.
