In a powerful display of philanthropy, the Dean of the College of Clinical Sciences at the University of Delta (UNIDEL), Professor Alexander Naiho, has awarded scholarship certificates and financial aid to seven indigent students to support their academic journeys.

The awards, presented on Thursday, March 5, 2026, were facilitated through the Naiho Igbabari Foundation & Scholarship Scheme (NIFASS), an initiative established by the Professor to provide a lifeline to students facing extreme financial hardship.

Speaking during the presentation in his office, Prof. Naiho revealed that the foundation was born out of his own lived experience with poverty. After losing his father shortly after gaining admission to the University of Calabar years ago, he faced significant hurdles in completing his education.

“It has always been a personal dream. I feel happy and fulfilled because I know what it means to be indigent,” he stated, emphasizing that the scheme is funded by his personal resources and is not driven by a desire for publicity.
