UNIMAID Dean of Students’ Affairs, Prof. Ahmadu Brono, Honoured with National NANS Award
In recognition of his outstanding administrative leadership and commitment to youth development, the Dean of Students’ Affairs at the University of Maiduguri (UNIMAID), Professor Ahmadu Brono, has been conferred with the NANS @45 Distinguished Nigerians Award.
The ceremony, held on Friday, April 17, 2026, at the Nicon Luxury Hotel in Abuja, was part of the 45th-anniversary celebrations of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS). Prof. Brono emerged as the top honouree in the "Deans of Students’ Affairs" category.

The award highlights Prof. Brono’s lifelong dedication to fostering a harmonious academic environment. NANS noted that the Dean was selected for his pivotal role in bridging the gap between university management and the student body.
The UNIMAID Students’ Union Government (SUG), in a statement released by Public Relations Officer Umar Adamu, described the accolade as a true reflection of the Dean’s "tireless work behind the scenes."
Reacting to the news, the SUG President, Aliyu Idriss Dakasku (DK), praised the Dean’s inclusive leadership style.
"This honour is more than just a plaque; it shows how much the Dean has invested in the lives of students," Dakasku stated. He further credited the Dean’s “open-door policy” as the cornerstone of the peaceful and progressive atmosphere currently enjoyed on the UNIMAID campus.
The recognition is being celebrated by the wider university community as a testament to UNIMAID’s commitment to excellence in student affairs management. As congratulations pour in, the SUG expressed optimism that this national milestone would inspire even greater service to the academic community.
