UNIMAID Ex-PRO Calls on Student Leaders to Focus on Welfare Issues

A former Public Relations Officer of the University of Maiduguri Students' Union Government, Comr. Babangida Musa, has expressed concern over the involvement of student leaders in the debate on the renaming of the institution.

In a statement, Musa urged current and former student leaders to prioritize student welfare issues rather than matters that can be handled by the university management.

Musa emphasized that as elected representatives, student leaders' primary focus should be on addressing issues that directly impact student life and welfare. He encouraged them to concentrate on tasks that benefit the student community.

The former PRO noted that the university management, comprising experienced intellectuals, is better equipped to handle matters such as the renaming of the institution. He suggested that student leaders should allow the management to handle such issues.

The call comes amid ongoing debates about the renaming of the University of Maiduguri, as directed by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Musa's statement highlights the need for student leaders to prioritize issues that directly affect students' lives and welfare.
