UNIMAID Vice-Chancellor Supports 63 Vulnerable Pupils with New School Uniforms

The Vice Chancellor University of Maiduguri, Professor Mohammed Laminu Mele, on Friday, 6th February 2026, flagged off the distribution of school uniforms to 63 vulnerable primary school pupils at Aisha Buhari Integrated Primary School, New GRA, Maiduguri.

Speaking at the ceremony, Professor Mele, a strong advocate of girl-child education, urged the beneficiaries to look beyond their current challenges and remain focused on their studies.

The gesture, he said, specifically targeted the most disadvantaged learners and saw 38 girls and 25 boys receiving brand new sets of school uniforms. He encouraged the pupils to take their education seriously, stating that education remains the key to achieving their dreams and aspirations.

Supporting the Vice Chancellor’s message, the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Central Administration), Professor Babagana Bako, advised the students to see the gesture as an opportunity to concentrate more on their academic pursuits.

In her remarks, the Headmistress of Aisha Buhari Integrated Primary School, Hajiya Abu Musa, expressed gratitude to the Vice Chancellor for the timely and compassionate gesture. One of the beneficiaries, 14-year-old Muhammad Musa of Primary 4, expressed his joy, saying that his parents would be very happy about the support. Similarly, 12-year-old Halima Adamu of Primary 6 thanked the Vice Chancellor, noting that the new uniforms had given them a renewed sense of dignity and confidence in their learning environment.
