The University of Uyo has formally announced the 25th Physician’s Oath-Taking Ceremony, also known as Sponsio Academica, for graduating medical students of its College of Health Sciences.

The event follows approval from the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria and marks a key professional transition for medical graduands as they formally commit to ethical medical practice, patient care standards, and regulatory compliance in line with national medical expectations.

According to the Directorate of Information and Public Relations, the ceremony will hold on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at the 1000-Seater TETFund Auditorium, Main Campus, Nwaniba Road, Uyo.

The announcement was confirmed by the Provost of the College of Health Sciences, Dianabasi U. Eduwem, while the Acting Vice-Chancellor, Samuel G. Odewumi, extended an invitation to members of the university community and the general public to attend.

The oath-taking ceremony represents a formal induction of newly qualified medical practitioners into the profession, reinforcing the university’s role in producing healthcare professionals aligned with national and global standards of medical ethics and practice.
