The University of Maiduguri has made a remarkable impression at the ongoing National Universities Games (NUGA), with its teams delivering standout performances across various sports.

Although the women's badminton team concluded their campaign in the quarter-finals after a tough match against Federal University Dutse, and their singles representative lost to Kaduna State University, the university bounced back strongly in basketball.

In a historic achievement, the University of Maiduguri's basketball team secured a spot in the NUGA semi-finals for the first time, defeating Modibbo Adama University, Yola, with a convincing score of 65-47. The team, known as the Desert Flames, will face ABU Zaria in today's semi-finals.

Additionally, the university's athletes excelled in track events, with a gold medal win in the women's 3000m race, showcasing exceptional endurance and determination. In another thrilling basketball match, UNIMAID defeated the University of Jos (UNIJOS) 78-75 to claim the bronze medal, further solidifying the university's impressive performance at the Games.
