University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital School of Nursing Announces Post-Basic Nursing Admission for 2026/2027 Session
The University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital (UPTH) School of Nursing Sciences has announced the commencement of admission into its Post Basic Diploma Programmes for the 2026/2027 academic session.

The programmes are designed for qualified nurses seeking advanced clinical specialization in Paediatric Nursing as well as Accident and Emergency Nursing. Each programme will run for a duration of 12 calendar months.
According to the official admission notice, applicants must meet the following requirements:
Admission Requirements:
- Possession of Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (SSCE) with a minimum of five (5) credits obtained in not more than two sittings. The compulsory subjects include English Language, Mathematics, Biology (excluding Health Science), Physics, and Chemistry. A combination of WAEC and NECO results is acceptable.
- Registration as a Nurse or Midwife with at least one (1) year post-qualification clinical experience.
- Possession of a Bachelor of Nursing Science (B.NSc) degree with Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) will be considered an added advantage.

The institution stated that selection of candidates will be based on academic qualifications and performance in a computer-based entrance examination.
Application Procedure: Interested candidates are required to pay a non-refundable application fee of ₦20,000 through the School Remittal Platform of the UPTH College of Nursing Sciences. Applicants are expected to present their payment evidence to the College Bursar to obtain an official receipt, after which application forms can be collected from the Office of the Registrar.
Deadline for Submission: Completed application forms, along with photocopies of all relevant credentials, must be submitted to the Registrar’s Office on or before Friday, 11 September, 2026.
Selection Interview and Examination: The entrance examination for both programmes will hold on Wednesday, 18 September, 2026, at the College Auditorium by 10:00 a.m. prompt. Candidates are required to come with original copies of their certificates and valid practicing licences for verification on the same day.
Applicants are advised to make personal arrangements for accommodation and feeding throughout the duration of the selection process, especially those travelling from outside the state.
