In his message, Prof. Georgewill emphasised the critical role of the university community in advancing the institution’s mission. “Our strength does not lie in structures alone, but in the people who animate them,” he noted, recognising the dedication and professionalism of academic, administrative, technical, and support staff as central to the University’s continued growth and reputation as a centre of excellence.
He stressed that every lecture delivered, record maintained, laboratory managed, office efficiently run, and service rendered directly contributes to the credibility and life of the University. Staff were encouraged to recommit to strong work ethics, mutual respect, and efficiency, fostering a culture of cooperation, responsibility, and excellence.
“Efficiency in job performance is not optional; it is central to our mission,” Prof. Georgewill added. He called on all members of the University community to take ownership of their roles, adhere to procedures, respect timelines, and uphold the highest professional standards.
The Vice-Chancellor expressed confidence that, with continued dedication, the University of Port Harcourt will not only sustain its legacy but also achieve greater heights in academic excellence, innovation, and service to humanity.
