The delegation, led by Prof. Nkoli Mercy Nnyigide of the Department of Igbo, African, and Communication Studies, visited the Vice-Chancellor at his office to formally present the development.
Prof. Nnyigide, during the meeting, expressed appreciation for the reception and used the opportunity to inform the university leadership of her conferment with the prestigious Professorial Chair Endowment Award by Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide. The recognition is widely regarded as a significant academic and cultural milestone, further elevating the profile of the university.

Responding, the Vice-Chancellor congratulated Prof. Nnyigide on the achievement, describing it as a moment of pride for both her department and the broader university community. He noted that the award underscores the institution’s commitment to academic distinction and cultural scholarship, adding that such recognition reinforces the university’s standing in the academic landscape.
Prof. Anyaehie also highlighted the increasing influence of women in academia and leadership, stating that their contributions continue to shape institutional growth and deserve sustained support and visibility.
