The management of Yaba College of Technology has issued a new directive concerning the ongoing 2025/2026 registration exercise for Higher National Diploma (HND I) students, warning that only fully registered students will be recognized for academic attendance purposes.
The update, communicated through the Office of the Deputy Rector (Academics) in an internal memo dated March 27, 2026, expressed concern over the number of HND I students who are yet to complete their registration process.
Under the new guidelines, only students who have been issued official matriculation numbers are permitted to sign lecture attendance sheets. Students still using temporary “YCT numbers” have been barred from being included in official attendance records.

The management further directed Deans across faculties to ensure strict enforcement of the policy, instructing Heads of Department and lecturers to comply fully with the new attendance requirements without exception.
Affected students have been urged to complete their registration without delay, as the directive is aimed at streamlining academic records and ensuring that only properly registered students are captured in the institution’s official system.
The memo was circulated to all major academic units, including the Schools of Agriculture, Arts, Design and Printing, Engineering, Environmental Studies, Liberal Studies, Management and Business Studies, Science, and Technology.
