"You Have No Reason To Fail", Sen. Adamu To NSUK VC Prof. Sa'adatu

The founder of Nasarawa State University, Keffi, and first Visitor to the University Distinguished Senator Abdullahi Adamu has told the Vice-Chancellor of the University that she has no reason to fail in the task of moving the University forward.

Senator Adamu gave the charge while speaking at the grand reception organized by the Keffi Forum of NSUK Staff in honor of the appointment of Professor Sa'adatu Hassan Liman as the first female indigenous Vice-Chancellor of the University which took place at the Assembly Hall of the institution on Saturday 31st August 2024.

Distinguished Senator Abdullahi Adamu explained that since the inception of the University, successive Vice-Chancellor's have worked assiduously and left no stone unturned in their quest to move the University to the enviable height it is today that is why she has to sustain the tempo and consolidate on the successes already achieved by previous administrations. 

Senator Adamu who served as the chairman of the occasion noted that the appointment of Professor Sa'adatu Hassan Liman did not come to him as a surprise because she was appointed on merit and based on her past experiences and stints she had while serving in the top echelon of the University administration. He charged her to use the wealth of experience she has garnered over the years to catapult the University to greater heights affirming that he will always be available to render all possible assistance to her to ensure that she excels in the new role as the Vice-Chancellor of Nasarawa State University, Keffi.

In his remark, Grand patron of the Keffi Forum of NSUK Staff, Professor Abdullahi Sallau Modibbo advised staff and the general public to be considerate in the type of requests they present to the Vice-Chancellor so as not to overwhelm her with requests that are not feasible. He on behalf of the Forum pledged to galvanise and rally support to ensure that she succeeds.

The Acting Chairman of the forum Professor Abdullahi Adamu Sulaiman in his welcome remarks stated that the Keffi Forum of NSUK Staff is a unique platform where academic and non teaching staff of the University converge to foster a spirit of camaraderie, collaboration, and mutual respect. He further highlighted that the mission of the Forum is to contribute to the development of NSUK by supporting initiatives that enhance the quality of education, research and community service, noting that the grand reception is a testament to the shared values and unwavering support for the leadership of Professor Sa'adatu Hassan Liman.

In her response, Professor Sa'adatu Hassan Liman appreciated the Visitor to the University and Executive Governor of Nasarawa State, His Excellency Engr. Abdullahi A. Sule for finding her worthy of the appointment, she also paid glowing tributes to Distinguished Senator Abdullahi Adamu and her late father the Magajin Mallam of Keffi and to everyone who has supported her. While soliciting for prayers and guidance in the onerous task of administering the University to lofty heights, she assured that she will put in her best to see that the confidence reposed in her is justified.

Dignitaries who graced the occasion included the Emir of Keffi and Chancellor to the University HRH Alhaji Dr. Shehu Chindo Yamusa III represented by the Dan Majen Keffi, Ahmed Sarki Ahmed, the Executive Chairman of Keffi Local Government Area, Hon. Muhammad Baba Shehu, the Commandant General of the Nigerian Civil Defence Corps, Dr. Ahmed Abubakar Audi mni CON, the former CEO of NASENI and Sarkin Sharifai of Keffi, Professor Muhammad Sani Haruna, Member representing Keffi West in the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Hon. Baba Ali Ibrahim Nana, former Chairman of Keffi LGC, Hon. Muhammad Yakubu Dikko, the Dan Malikin Keffi, Hon. Kabiru Tanko, Engr. Idris Wada, Hon. Justice Mustapha Ramat Mohammed, Distinguished Senator representing Nasarawa West Senatorial District, Ahmed Aliyu Wadada represented by Hon. Bala Audu Namalama and a host of family, friends and well wishers who added colour to the event.

The event was climaxed with the presentation post humous award to the first chancellor of the University, HRH Chindo Yamusa II, award of honor to Distinguished Senator Abdullahi Adamu and Professor Sa'adatu Hassan Liman, also a traditional fulani attire and calabash depicting the rich culture of the fulanis to VC by the NSUK Forum.
