19-Year-Old Emerges Overall Best Graduating Student at OOU’s 34th Convocation

Aishat Dauda A. captivated social media on Thursday as she recounted her extraordinary academic journey during the 34th convocation ceremony of Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU). The 19-year-old graduate not only celebrated her degree but also clinched multiple top honors, including the title of Overall Best Graduating Student (BGS) for the 2023/2024 academic session. 

 

A Trailblazer from Youth

In a heartfelt post on her X account (formerly Twitter), Aishat revealed her unconventional path to success: “I wrote my first JAMB [university entrance exam] at 14. Then, I got admission into the university at 15. Finally, I graduated at 19.” Her early academic prowess saw her enroll at OOU as one of its youngest undergraduates, culminating in a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from the Faculty of Social Sciences.

Sweeping Academic Honors

Aishat’s brilliance was recognized across multiple levels. She emerged as the Best Graduating Student in both the Department of Economics and the Faculty of Social Sciences, in addition to securing the university-wide BGS title. Her achievements extend beyond academics: she was named First Runner-Up in the September 2023 Inter-Faculty Debate Competition and was a beneficiary of the prestigious Gbemiga Abiodun Education Program Scholarship for the 2023-2024 session.
