The Organization for Women in Science for the Developing World (OWSD) has announced the launch of the 2024 Women in Science Masters Scholarship, aimed at empowering refugee women in the STEM fields.

This prestigious and fully funded scholarship offers a comprehensive package covering tuition, monthly living allowance, accommodation, and travel costs, providing an unparalleled opportunity for women scientists seeking to advance their education at Istanbul Aydin University in Türkiye.

In its second year, the OWSD Women in Science Displacement Outreach Master’s Program (OWSD WISDOM) continues to support refugee women pursuing master’s degrees in natural, engineering, information, and technology sciences. This initiative underscores OWSD's commitment to fostering scientific excellence and providing crucial support to displaced women scientists.

The OWSD scholarship is designed to alleviate the financial burdens often associated with higher education. Fellows will receive a monthly living allowance to cover board and lodging costs, a personal support allowance, health insurance, and coverage for residence/permit documentation. Additionally, travel allowances will be provided to cover costs to and from the host institute, ensuring that scholars can focus on their studies without financial worries. Upon completion or termination of the program, a completion allowance will also be provided.

To qualify for the scholarship, applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Hold valid refugee status (Temporary Protection, International Protection, or International Protection Application Certificate).
  • Possess a bachelor’s degree from an accredited academic or research institution, including international research centers.
  • Reside in Türkiye at the time of application.

Interested candidates are encouraged to prepare the necessary documentation, including proof of refugee status and academic credentials. The application process involves submitting these documents through the official OWSD website before the deadline on August 8, 2024.
