JAMB Insists No Admission for Candidates Below 16 Years
JAMB also announced it would no longer recognize admissions conducted prior to 2017 under the window of condonement of illegal admissions without registration numbers
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has reiterated that candidates below the age of 16 years will not be considered for admission in the 2024/2025 academic session. This directive follows the decision made by the Minister of Education, Prof. Tahir Mamman, during the 2024 National Policy Meeting.
Fabian Benjamin, JAMB’s Public Communication Advisor, stated that only candidates who are at least 16 years old at the time of admission will be deemed eligible. He emphasized that the board will not tolerate any illegal admissions, including those secured through false affidavits or doctored age adjustments.
JAMB also announced it would no longer recognize admissions conducted prior to 2017 under the window of condonement of illegal admissions without registration numbers. This measure aims to curb illegal admissions and the falsification of records.
Furthermore, JAMB has warned institutions against admitting candidates outside the approved Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS) platform. Institutions have been given a one-month window to disclose all candidates illegally admitted before 2017, failing which such admissions will not be recognized or condoned.
