ABSU Microbiology Professor Secures Prestigious National Research Fund Grant

A Professor of Microbiology at Abia State University (ABSU), Uturu, Professor Osita C. Ugbogu, has been awarded the prestigious National Research Fund (NRF) Grant to undertake a research project titled: "Valorization of Fermented Ugba (African Oil Bean Seed) for Enhanced Food Safety, Nutritional Value and Commercialization in Nigeria."

The Vice-Chancellor and Chairman of Senate, Professor Ndukwe J. Okeudo, disclosed this during the 287th Meeting of Senate, noting that the achievement is part of the growing research breakthroughs and academic excellence being witnessed in the University under his administration.

Professor Okeudo described Professor Ugbogu, who is also the Dean of the Postgraduate School, as a distinguished scholar and accomplished researcher whose numerous contributions to knowledge have continued to bring recognition, visibility and positive ranking to the University.

The University Senate commended Professor Ugbogu for the remarkable feat and expressed confidence that he would continue to make significant contributions to research, innovation and national development through his scholarly endeavours.
