ABU Establishes Expert Committee to Overhaul Fire Safety and Disaster Preparedness

Following recent fire outbreaks on campus, the Vice-Chancellor of Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Professor Adamu Ahmed, has inaugurated an eight-member specialist committee to review the institution's fire safety measures and disaster response capabilities.

The inauguration, which took place on Wednesday, December 24, 2025, follows a recent fire incident that resulted in the loss of a university residential building. Professor Ahmed noted that these events have raised critical concerns regarding the university's ability to prevent and recover from emergency disasters.

The committee has been given a strict timeline to deliver its findings: an interim report is expected within three weeks, followed by a final report and comprehensive action plan in six weeks.
