Bayero University Kano Receives Medical and Nursing Textbook Donation from University of Alberta

The Vice-Chancellor of Bayero University, Kano (BUK), Professor Haruna Musa, fsi, on Wednesday, 24 December 2025, received a donation of nursing and medical textbooks in support of teaching, learning, and research activities within the University.

The donation, made through the Faculty of Nursing, University of Alberta, Canada, is aimed at strengthening academic resources available to students and staff, particularly in nursing and other health-related disciplines. This marks the second time that textbooks have been donated to Bayero University, Kano, by the Canadian university, through the facilitation of Abdurasheed Inusa Abdulmalik.

The books were conveyed through Mr. Abdulmalik, a staff member of the University of Alberta, Canada, who is facilitating the donation process on behalf of the donors. Alhaji Muhammad Gali Yusuf Maitama, Chairman of the Bayero University Traders Association, who played a key role in coordinating the initiative, formally presented the books to the Vice-Chancellor on behalf of Mr. Abdulmalik at the entrance of the Senate Building.

Receiving the donation, Professor Haruna Musa expressed profound appreciation on behalf of the University Management, staff, and students. He commended the donors and the facilitator for their sustained goodwill, noting that the books would greatly enhance learning, teaching, and research, especially in the health sciences.

The Vice-Chancellor received the books in the company of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Management Services), Professor Aliyu Mua’zu,mni and the University Librarian, Dr. Kabiru Dahiru Abbas.

It is noteworthy that Abdurasheed Inusa Abdulmalik maintains close ties with the University community, as his mother operates a restaurant within the University.
