SAZU Vice Chancellor Hosts Education Commissioner; Prioritizes Campus Security During Familiarization Tour
On Tuesday, December 23, 2025, the Vice Chancellor of Sa’adu Zungur University (SAZU), Professor Fatimah Tahir, received the Honorable Commissioner for Higher Education and Regional Integration, Hajiya Hadiza Abdulkadir Kango, at the university’s Yuli Campus. The visit was part of an official familiarization tour to assess the institution's operational needs.
During the meeting, Professor Tahir expressed gratitude to the Bauchi State Government for its ongoing support in maintaining academic excellence. She utilized the visit to table urgent institutional requirements, specifically emphasizing the need for enhanced security infrastructure.
The Vice Chancellor identified the safety of female hostels at both the Gadau Main Campus and Yuli Campus as a top priority. She revealed that the university is proactively collaborating with the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) to deploy female personnel for overnight security duties at the hostels.
In her response, Honorable Commissioner Hajiya Hadiza Abubakar Kango commended the university's proactive measures. She noted that the tour was designed to help the Ministry understand localized challenges to develop workable solutions.
“It is not everything that the government can do for you; you have to take the initiative. What the university has started with the NSCDC is an impressive step that the government will support,” the Commissioner stated.
She further assured the university that His Excellency, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, the Executive Governor of Bauchi State, has already taken note of these concerns and intends to provide adequate security for all tertiary institutions across the state.
