Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, has released official instructions for the 2025/2026 Academic Session Matriculation Ceremony, scheduled for Tuesday, 17th February 2026.

All newly admitted students are required to collect their academic gowns from their respective faculties ahead of the event. A hire fee of Three Thousand Naira (₦3,000) applies, and the university has mandated that all payments must be made electronically via the Remita platform by generating a Remita Retrieval Reference (RRR).

Payment Procedure via Remita (www.remita.net):

  1. Log on and select "Pay TSA & States" → "FGN: Federal Government of Nigeria."
  2. Complete the form with the following details:
    • Who to pay: Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria – 1000110
    • Service/Purpose: COGCC
    • Description: Hiring of Academic Gown
    • GIFMIS Code: 0000
    • Enter the amount, payer’s name, and contact details.
  3. Choose a payment method: Debit Card, Bank Branch, or Internet Banking.
  4. Debit Card payments at the university POS will generate an official receipt immediately. Payments through other channels require a printout of the Remita receipt to obtain ABU’s official receipt.

The university warns against making cash payments at gown collection centres and urges strict adherence to the electronic payment system.
