ABU’s seven staff return after Erasmus Study Programme in Romania

Seven academic staff of Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, who underwent a six-month training under the Erasmus Programme in Romania, have returned, myschoolnews Report. 

The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Kabiru Bala, received the staff at the Vice-Chancellor’s Conference Room along with other Principal Officers of the University on Wednesday, 30th August, 2023.

Three of the staff first left for Romania for the programme in December, 2022, and they were later joined by the other four who departed in March, 2023. 

They all returned on 28th July, 2023 after the successful completion of the programme on areas bordering agronomy, biotechnology, plant breeding, animal science, and veterinary medicine. 

The staff are Abubakar Ahmed, Department of Agronomy; Suleiman Mukhtar Adeiza, Department of Biochemistry; Aisha Muhammad Abdulqadeer, Department of Animal Science; and Yusuf Fatima Lawal, Department of Public Health and Preventive Medicine, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine.

Others are Aminu Abubakar Sadiq, Department of Agronomy; Moru Nana Hauwa, Department of Public Health and Preventive Medicine; and Zakariya Saminu, Department of Plant Science. 

The Vice-Chancellor congratulated the staff and urged them to use what they had learnt to enhance their academic standing and that of the University as a whole. 

Also speaking, the Director, Directorate of University Advancement, Prof. Sani Abba Aliyu, who presented the staff to the Vice-Chancellor, described the training programme as an illustration of the University Management to strengthen the power and staffing of the University. 

The team leader, Abubakar Ahmed of the Department of Agronomy, Faculty of Agriculture, who spoke on behalf of the staff, disclosed that they had won various awards during the six-months training. 

Ahmed expressed appreciation to the Vice-Chancellor and Management of Ahmadu Bello University for the opportunity to participate in the programme, stressing that they would use the experience gained to improve their performance as academics. 

Those present to assist the Vice-Chancellor in receiving the staff included the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Administration, Prof. Ahmed Doko Ibrahim; Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Academic, Prof. Danladi Amodu Ameh; the Registrar, Malam Rabiu Samaila; the Bursar, Malam Aminu Muhammad Bello Gurin; Director, Public Affairs Directorate, Malam Auwalu Umar; and Special Assistant to the Vice-Chancellor, Malam Auwalu Yusuf Mohammed.
