ACCREDITATION: UNICAL VC Commends NUC'S Efforts in Uplifting the Standard Of Education
The Vice Chancellor of the University of Calabar, Prof Florence Banku Obi has commended the the Nigeria Universities Commission( NUC) for its relentless efforts towards uplifting the standard of education in Nigerian Universities.

The Vice Chancellor of the University of Calabar, Prof Florence Banku Obi has commended the the Nigeria Universities Commission( NUC) for its relentless efforts towards uplifting the standard of education in Nigerian Universities.

Prof. Obi made the commendation at the Council Chamber of the institution when she received the NUC accreditation team who paid a working visit to her office.
The University Administrator described the NUC team as the 'third eye' of every University, even as she applauded their efforts in ensuring that the necessary facilities in varsities are properly in place for quality academic delivery and excellence.
She further commended the NUC for maintaining its standards despite the economic challenges facing the country.
Prof. Obi also described the NUC team ' as credible people ' who will do the right thing in line with NUC-approved standards.
She appealed to the team to adjust their template in tandem with current realities, adding that, " time has changed".
Prof. Obi also charged the team to make their observations that will yield positive results and create room for improvement, even as she noted that the University has tried to provide the basic facilities within its capacity for a conducive teaching and learning environment.

Speaking earlier, the Leader of the NUC team, Prof. Habu Mohammed applauded the University Management for their warm reception and hospitality.
Prof. Mohammed described the show of the hospital as 'exceptional and humbling', noting that the gesture made the team feel at home.
He commended the Vice Chancellor for her disposition towards the achievement of academic excellence in the institution.
Prof. Mohammed assured that the team is ready to discharge its duties without bias and sentiments all in a bid to promote the standard of education.
The departments scheduled for the accreditation exercise were; Political Science, Peace and Conflict Studies, Social Works, Mass Communication, Forestry and Wildlife.
