Ahmadu Bello University Students Commend SRC President as School Fees Refunds Commence

Relief has swept through the student body of Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, as students began receiving refunds for overpaid or erroneously processed school fees.

The disbursement follows a period of intensive advocacy and sustained engagement led by the President of the Students' Representative Council (ABUSRC), Comrade Abdurrahman Halliru Saraki. Through strategic dialogue with the university management and relevant financial authorities, the SRC leadership successfully expedited the administrative process required to return the funds to affected students.

The refund exercise is being viewed as a significant victory for the Saraki-led administration, which has prioritized accountability and the financial well-being of the student population. Many students who have confirmed receipt of their funds took to social media and campus platforms to commend the SRC President for his persistence and transparent leadership.

“The President’s commitment to ensuring no student is shortchanged by administrative bottlenecks has brought much-needed relief to many of us,” stated one of the beneficiaries on Tuesday.

While a significant number of students have already reported successful transactions, the SRC has encouraged those yet to receive their refunds to remain patient as the university’s bursary department continues to process the payments in batches.
