The Students’ Union Government of Akwa Ibom State College of Education has announced the commencement of a ban on indecent dressing within the institution, effective Monday, March 30, 2026.
The directive follows an earlier announcement by the Provost during a town hall meeting held on Friday, March 27, 2026, and aligns with the provisions of the Students’ Handbook, which emphasizes discipline, decency, and the maintenance of a morally regulated academic environment.
According to the SUG, the decision has the full backing of the school management and is aimed at reinforcing acceptable standards of dressing across the campus. It warned that any form of indecent dressing will not be tolerated, with defaulters liable to disciplinary action as stipulated in institutional regulations.

Students have been advised to adhere strictly to the dress code by dressing modestly and responsibly at all times within the campus, avoiding clothing considered revealing, offensive, or inappropriate for an academic setting, and maintaining conduct that upholds the dignity of the institution.
The union reaffirmed its commitment to working with management to sustain a conducive and respectful learning environment, urging students to comply fully with the directive to avoid sanctions.
