Akwa Ibom State Polytechnic Appoints Dr. Akanimo Edet Jonah as Deputy Rector

The Governing Authority of Akwa Ibom State Polytechnic, Ikot Osurua, Ikot Ekpene, has announced the appointment of Dr. Akanimo Edet Jonah, MCSN, MNIM, as the new Deputy Rector of the institution.

The appointment, approved by the Akwa Ibom State Government, reflects the state’s ongoing commitment to strengthening technical and vocational education.

In an official circular released from the Office of the Registrar and signed by the Acting Registrar, Mr. Godswill E. Udofah, MNIM, the Polytechnic community—comprising staff, students, and stakeholders—was formally notified of Dr. Jonah’s appointment. The notice urged all members of the institution to accord him full cooperation and support in carrying out his responsibilities effectively.

Before his elevation, Dr. Jonah served as the Director of the Students Industrial Work Experience Scheme (SIWES) and was the immediate past Dean of the Entrepreneurial Centre of the Polytechnic. His tenure in these roles was marked by strong administrative competence, innovative leadership, and a deep commitment to academic and institutional growth.

Over the years, Dr. Jonah has contributed significantly to the Polytechnic’s industrial training and entrepreneurship initiatives, earning widespread respect among staff and students for his dedication to quality education and professional development.

The management of Akwa Ibom State Polytechnic expressed confidence that his appointment would further enhance the institution’s administrative efficiency, strengthen academic productivity, and promote innovation in both teaching and learning.
