The National Universities Commission (NUC) has granted approval for the establishment of four new full-time academic programmes at the Federal University Kashere (FUK), Gombe State, effective from the 2025/2026 academic session.

According to a letter dated October 17, 2025, and addressed to the Vice-Chancellor, the newly approved programmes include:
- MBBS, Medicine and Surgery
- B.Sc. Human Anatomy
- B.Sc. Human Physiology
- B.Sc. Pharmacology
The approval follows a successful resource verification exercise conducted by NUC experts to assess the adequacy of human and material resources available for the proposed programmes.
In the letter signed by Abubakar M. Girei on behalf of the Executive Secretary, the Commission emphasized that the approval applies strictly to the full-time mode of delivery. Any future proposal for part-time delivery must first be submitted for separate consideration and approval.
The NUC also advised the university to maintain the required academic standards, facilities, and staffing levels necessary for the continued growth and sustainability of the new programmes.
The introduction of the MBBS (Medicine and Surgery) programme marks a major milestone for Federal University Kashere, positioning it to train future medical professionals and further expand its contributions to Nigeria’s healthcare and educational development.
