ARD UCH Ibadan Holds 57th Annual AGM Focusing on Accountability in Clinical Care

The Association of Resident Doctors (ARD), University College Hospital (UCH) Ibadan, flags off her 57th Annual general meeting (AGM) and Scientific Conference on Tuesday, 2nd of December,2025 at Canhent hall ,beside Ajimobi Immunization center,Uch Ibadan.

The theme of the Conference was: Accountability in care: Legal and Ethical responsibilities of the modern Clinician.

Dr. Gbenga Ajibola ,ARD President in his speech expressed his appreciation to the management of UCH for it's continuous support towards the Association . He further stated that "Accountability in care is not merely a concept, it is the covenant that binds us to our patients and to the society we serve is equally important.". Ethical obligations, compassion, confidentiality, fairness and respect for autonomy remain pillars on which the association stands on.

The Chief Medical Director, Prof. Jesse Abiodun Otegbayo, who was the 28th President of ARD(1995)and the general secretary of Nard (1996), in his speech commended the leadership and members of ARD on yet another milestone of long-standing tradition of excellence, scholarship, professional development, and for choosing a theme that compels, introspection and encourage a collective commitment to safer and more accountable care.

"As Clinicians, ARD stands at a complex intersection of sciences, humanity and societal expectations. "Our patient's trust us not only with their health,but with their vulnerabilities, their fears and often their lives.This trust must be honored with responsibility, integrity and unwavering accountability.

"Your role in sustaining excellence within this institution cannot be undermine". He assured them of the management's continuous support for their academic and professional aspirations.
