KHAIRUN Hosts the 2nd Conference on the Future of Librarianship

Khalifa Isyaku Rabiu University, Kano (KHAIRUN) on Tuesday, 2nd December 2025, proudly hosted the second conference themed “Navigating the Future of Librarianship in a Dynamic Information Landscape Through Innovation, Technology and User Centered Services.” The event was organized by the Nigerian Library Association (NLA), Kano State Chapter. It brought together professionals, scholars, and young librarians from across the state.

In his opening remarks, the Vice-Chancellor and Chief Host, Prof. Abdulrashid Garba, warmly appreciated the NLA for choosing KHAIRUN as the host institution for the important gathering. He provided a brief but insightful history of the university, highlighting its rapid growth, its commitment to academic excellence, and its strategic focus on fostering innovation across disciplines.

Prof. Garba encouraged the participants, especially young librarians to embrace the evolving nature of library and information services. He emphasized the importance of adapting to technological advancements and maintaining user-centered approaches in modern librarianship.

The Vice-Chancellor also called for the integration of leisure and creative relaxation spaces within libraries, noting that such environments promote learning, well being, and increased library engagement.
