The delegation was hosted at the University’s main campus, where they conducted a detailed assessment of academic and clinical facilities in line with regulatory standards for professional training in dental technology.
Welcoming the team, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dimie Ogoina, reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to academic excellence through its ASPIRE Agenda, noting that the university has made deliberate investments in infrastructure development, curriculum strengthening, and hands-on professional training to meet global healthcare education standards.
He emphasized that BMU is positioning itself as a leading medical training institution in the region, with a strong focus on innovation-driven health education and competence-based learning outcomes.

Speaking during the visit, the Registrar/Chief Executive Officer of the Dental Technologists Registration Board of Nigeria, Dr. Idris Ahmad Bappah, observed that Bayelsa Medical University holds a historic position as the first institution in the South-South region and the first state university in Nigeria to establish a Dental Technology programme.
As part of the verification process, the committee inspected several key facilities critical to training delivery. These included the University Library, Virtual Reality Studio, Prosthetic Laboratory, Dental Technology Plaster and Casting Laboratory, and the Clinical Skills Laboratory.
The inspection covered infrastructure adequacy, equipment standards, and training capacity, with emphasis on compliance with professional benchmarks required for accreditation approval.

The visit underscores BMU’s ongoing drive to consolidate its reputation in medical education, while expanding capacity for producing globally competitive healthcare professionals in specialized fields.
