Since assuming office, the Vice-Chancellor of Northwest University, Kano, Professor Amina Salihi Bayero, has continued to receive delegations from within and outside the University community who have been trooping in to register their congratulations and goodwill messages on her appointment.

In this spirit, the Vice-Chancellor on Tuesday, 31st December 2025, received a delegation from the family of the late Emir of Kano, Sarkin Kano Abbas Maje Nassarawa, who paid her a courtesy visit to formally congratulate her and convey the family’s goodwill.

The delegation was led by Alhaji Abdullahi Ado Bayero, who stated that the visit was undertaken specifically to extend the heartfelt congratulations and prayers of the Bayero family to Professor Amina Salihi Bayero on her well-deserved appointment as Vice-Chancellor. He noted that the Vice-Chancellor, being a distinguished member of the Bayero family, has made the entire family proud through her achievement.

Alhaji Abdullahi Ado Bayero further conveyed the collective prayers and best wishes of all members of the family, expressing confidence in her capacity to lead the University successfully. He prayed for a fruitful and impactful tenure and emphasized the importance of sustaining strong family ties and upholding the enduring legacies handed down by their forebears. Other members of the family who spoke during the visit echoed similar opinions, reaffirming their pride, support, and prayers for the Vice-Chancellor.

In her response, Professor Amina Salihi Bayero expressed profound happiness and appreciation for the visit, describing it as deeply encouraging and meaningful. She briefly reflected on the history of their ancestors, highlighting their invaluable contributions not only to the Bayero family but also to the development and welfare of the people of Kano State at large.
