Bayero University Holds 58th Congregation Meeting, VC Pledges Enhanced Welfare for Staff and Students

Bayero University Kano (BUK) held its 58th Congregation meeting on Saturday, July 20, 2024, where senior members discussed and deliberated on key university matters.

Vice Chancellor Professor Sagir Adamu Abbas addressed various issues, including academic and administrative matters, municipal services, achievements since the 57th Congregation, and staff and student welfare.

The VC announced the release of accreditation results for 24 programs across seven faculties, with 23 granted full accreditation and one interim accreditation.

He also highlighted the upcoming accreditation of 43 academic programs by the National Universities Commission (NUC) in October/November 2024.

The VC emphasized the importance of staff development, citing the creation of the Continuous Professional Development (CPD) Unit and various capacity-building trainings.

He also showcased the accomplishments of the university's research centers, including the Centre for Dryland Agriculture, African Centre for Population Health and Policy, and others.
