Bayero University Kano Announces Call for Applications for Students Innovation Competition 2026
The Directorate of Research, Innovation and Partnership (DRIP) at Bayero University, Kano (BUK), has officially invited applications for the BUK Students Innovation Competition 2026.
Themed "Driving Innovation for Sustainable Development in Nigeria," the competition is designed to empower the next generation of problem-solvers. The initiative is open to all currently registered undergraduate and postgraduate students of the university who possess novel ideas capable of addressing real-world challenges within the Nigerian context.
According to the Directorate, the competition aims to identify and support high-impact projects that demonstrate strong potential for Intellectual Property (IP) protection, including patents, copyrights, and industrial designs.
Selected participants will have the opportunity to showcase their innovations to a panel of experts, with the university providing a platform to transition these ideas into scalable solutions. This initiative reaffirms BUK's commitment to fostering a culture of research and entrepreneurship among its student body to drive national development.
Eligible students are encouraged to submit their applications through the DRIP official portal or designated faculty coordinators.
