Bayero University Kano Elevates Muhammad Awwal Ladan to Rank of Professor

The Senate of Bayero University, Kano (BUK) has officially approved the promotion of Dr. Muhammad Awwal Ladan to the prestigious rank of Professor of Public Health Nursing. This significant career milestone was finalized during the University Council’s Appointments and Promotions Committee meeting held on Friday, January 9, 2026.

Professor Ladan, a distinguished academic in the Faculty of Allied Health Sciences, previously served as an Associate Professor and Head of Department for Environmental Health Science. His elevation is a recognition of his extensive research contributions in fields such as Public Health Nursing, Disaster and Risk Management, and e-Health, as well as his dedication to advancing nursing education in Nigeria.

Reacting to the announcement, members of the academic and nursing communities have hailed the appointment as a well-deserved honor for a "role model" whose work continues to impact both the clinical and academic sectors.

With this promotion, Professor Ladan joins the cadre of senior academic leaders at BUK expected to drive the institution’s research-led innovation and mentoring of the next generation of healthcare professionals.
