Brace Up For Life After Service, NYSC- Retired Deputy Director Tells Corps Members

The former Deputy Director of the National Youth Service Corps, Mr. Lanre Ologun, has charged Corps Members to prepare themselves for the future.

He said this during his motivational lecture at the ongoing 2023 Batch A Stream 1 Orientation Course at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Ede on Thursday.

With reference to the United Bank of Africa's Chief Executive Officer, Tony Elumelu's recent facebook post about his days of his days as a Corps Member, Ologun charged the Corps Members to set defined goals for themselves after their service year.

In Elumelu's post, which was obtained by Myschoolnews, the entrepreneur had said:

“I recall my Youth Service days in Sokoto, a young man, fresh out of school, enjoying the drinks we could afford and unsure about the next steps.

“In my uncertainty, I was sure of one thing, I will stand out wherever I found myself, through hard work and resilience.

"I had always always admired the banking profession, for one, I love that the guys in the profession were always impeccably dressed... Suspenders were a huge thing then, and I wanted to look like them.”

The former Kwara and Edo State  Coordinator thereafter encouraged Corps Members to emulate and tread Elumelu's path to greatness, adding that the post was to motivate young Nigerians.

He said: “You've been here for almost 3 weeks going through series of orientation programmes, prepare yourself for post-camp life.

“Wherever you find yourselves, brace up yourselves just as Tony did. For the next 11 months, you will not be short of fund though it may not be enough due to your backgrounds. However, you can still make plans with it.”
