BUK Appoints Haruna Aliyu As New Registrar

The Governing Council of Bayero University, Kano (BUK) has appointed Haruna Aliyu as the 7th substantive Registrar of the university.

The appointment was made on Thursday, 22nd August, 2024, during the council's meeting.

Haruna Aliyu succeeds Malam Jamilu Salim, who passed away on 26th April, 2023. Aliyu was presented with the letter of appointment by the Chairman of the Governing Council, Dr. Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna, who congratulated him on his new role.

 

Aliyu brings a wealth of experience to the position, having served as Registrar at Skyline University, Kano from April 2021 to May 2023. During his tenure, he led the university to achieve several milestones, including successful accreditation of 11 programs and a top-20 ranking in the 2021 Nigerian Universities Ranking.

The appointment is for a period of five years, effective from 22nd August, 2024. Until his appointment, Aliyu served as Deputy Registrar in the Vice Chancellor's Office.

 

Hajiya Amina Umar Abdullahi, who has been acting as Registrar since 5th May, 2023, will hand over to Aliyu.
