BUK Honors Athletes for Outstanding Performance at WAUG

Bayero University Kano (BUK) celebrated its athletes who excelled at the West Africa University Games (WAUG) held at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, earlier this year.

The athletes received medals and cash donations from the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Sagir Adamu Abbas, who praised them as champions and good ambassadors for making the university proud.

Representing the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Musa Garba, emphasized the importance of combining sports and education to take students' careers to the next level. He noted that sports provide a platform for students to showcase their talents and potentially represent Nigeria internationally.

The Director of Sports, Professor Rabiu Mohammed, commended the athletes for winning medals and announced plans for the basketball team to represent BUK at the forthcoming Northwest universities basketball 3x3 championship. He urged the athletes to prepare for the next NUGA games, now scheduled for next year.

The Sports Directorate is organizing the interfaculty games, commencing on August 31, 2024, with 13 games.
