BUK Pays Appreciation Visit to Hadejia Jama’are River Basin Authority over 12 Completed Water Projects

The Management of Bayero University, Kano (BUK), on Monday, 12 January 2026, paid a courtesy and appreciation visit to the Hadejia Jama’are River Basin Development Authority (HJRBDA) in recognition of the successful execution of 12 critical water projects across the University’s campuses.

Leading the University delegation, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Haruna Musa, fsi, expressed profound gratitude to the Authority for its timely intervention in addressing BUK’s long-standing challenge of perennial water scarcity. He noted that the projects, implemented between December 2025 and January 2026, have significantly improved water supply for staff, students, and the wider university community.

Professor Musa disclosed that the completed projects include the supply and installation of solar-powered water pumps, rehabilitation of ground water tanks, and the revitalisation of water works at student hostels, including the New Campus, Old Campus, School of Continuing Education, the University hotels, and the Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital Campus.

Responding, the Managing Director of HJRBDA, Engineer Rabi’u Sulaiman Bichi, expressed delight over the visit and thanked the University Management for recognising the Authority’s efforts. He explained that HJRBDA’s statutory mandate covers the development and management of water resources in Kano, Bauchi, and Jigawa States for domestic, industrial, and agricultural use, stressing that Bayero University falls within this operational axis.

Engineer Bichi added that supporting the University with potable water infrastructure was both necessary and expedient, given its role as a leading centre of learning and research in the region.

The BUK delegation was received by the Executive Director, Administration and Finance, Honourable Musa Ilyasu Kwankwaso, alongside other senior management staff of the Authority.
