Bayero University Kano (BUK) Staff Football Team has secured a spot in the semifinals of the 14th Nigerian Universities Staff Sports Association (NUSSA) Games.

The team defeated Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU), Bauchi, in a penalty shootout, following a goalless draw in their quarterfinal match on May 27, 2025.

Rabiu Sagir Mohammed, typically a striker with two goals in the tournament, was substituted into the goalkeeper position with five minutes left on the clock. He made a remarkable impact, saving two crucial penalties and helping BUK win the shootout 3-0. This extraordinary performance has boosted the team's morale and kept their gold medal aspirations alive.
