BUK SUG Embarks on Mission to Secure Financial Support for 5,000 Students

The Student Union Government (SUG) of Bayero University Kano (BUK) has announced a forthcoming trip to Abuja to address the ongoing struggle concerning the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND).

Sen. Hamza Mainasara, Sales Director of the SUG, will assist President Naseer Ibrahim Isa in securing financial support for 5,000 students struggling to pay registration fees and monthly upkeep.

This initiative aims to alleviate financial burdens and ensure uninterrupted education for BUK students. The sales committee, supervised by the chief of staff, will handle all sales activities during Sen. Mainasara's absence.

The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has already begun disbursement, with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu presenting loan cheques to students from each geo-political zone ¹. The program aims to empower Nigerian youth by providing fair and transparent funding, removing financial barriers to educational opportunities.

BUK has also received support from corporate bodies and individuals, with over 500 students benefiting from indigent scholarship schemes ². The university's management spends over N100 million monthly on municipal services, emphasizing the need for financial assistance.

The SUG's effort is a welcome step towards ensuring academic success for BUK students.
