COOU VC Deepens Inter-University Collaboration, Invites UNIZIK to 16th Convocation

The Vice-Chancellor of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University (COOU), Prof. Kate Azuka Omenugha, has strengthened inter-university relations with Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK) through a strategic courtesy visit aimed at fostering academic collaboration and institutional synergy.

The Vice-Chancellor of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University (COOU), Prof. Kate Azuka Omenugha, has strengthened inter-university relations with Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK) through a strategic courtesy visit aimed at fostering academic collaboration and institutional synergy.

The visit, which took place on April 14, 2026, saw Prof. Omenugha engage her UNIZIK counterpart, Prof. Ugochukwu Bond Stanley Anyaehie, in discussions centered on strengthening cooperation between both institutions.

The engagement aligns with COOU’s institutional philosophy of the “3Vs” — Value, Viability, and Visibility — which guides its efforts to enhance academic excellence, expand partnerships, and strengthen national relevance.

During the visit, Prof. Omenugha expressed appreciation for the warm reception and extended goodwill to the UNIZIK Vice-Chancellor. She also formally invited him to COOU’s 16th Convocation Ceremony scheduled for April 21 to 25, 2026, describing collaboration among universities as essential to advancing higher education standards in Nigeria.

In his response, Prof. Anyaehie thanked the COOU delegation for the visit and invitation, assuring them of his goodwill and support.

The delegation from COOU included the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration and Environmental Sustainability), Prof. A. C. Nweke; Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Development and Uli Campus Affairs), Prof. Sylvia Okonkwo; and the Public Relations Officer, Dr. Harrison Madubueze.

The visit underscores a growing emphasis on inter-university engagement as institutions seek to strengthen academic networks and promote shared development goals.
