Crescent University, Abeokuta, has reinforced its commitment to digital innovation and capacity building with the successful hosting of a one-day training programme titled “Building AI-Driven Data Solutions with Microsoft Fabric.”
Crescent University, Abeokuta, has reinforced its commitment to digital innovation and capacity building with the successful hosting of a one-day training programme titled “Building AI-Driven Data Solutions with Microsoft Fabric.”

The workshop was organised by the Ogun Tech Community in collaboration with the College of Information and Communication Technology (CICOT), Crescent University, Abeokuta, as part of efforts to equip students and staff with practical skills in artificial intelligence, data engineering, and analytics.
According to the President of the Ogun Tech Community, Mr. Adekunle Durosinmi, the initiative is aimed at empowering young people with industry-relevant competencies across tertiary institutions in Ogun State. He noted that Crescent University was selected due to its commitment to academic excellence and its track record in producing globally competitive graduates.
The training was facilitated by UK-based data engineering and analytics expert, Mr. Samuel Akpan, who delivered practical sessions on the Microsoft Fabric ecosystem, including Lakehouse Architecture, data engineering, analytics, and AI-powered insights.
Mr. Akpan also demonstrated how modern organisations transform raw data into intelligent, data-driven decisions, highlighting Microsoft Fabric’s integration of data engineering, analytics, and artificial intelligence within a unified platform designed for next-generation innovation.

Speaking at the event, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ibraheem Gbajabiamila, commended the Founder of the university, His Excellency Prince Bola Ajibola, for his vision in establishing Crescent University, noting that he invested personal resources to create an institution dedicated to human development.
Prof. Gbajabiamila reaffirmed the university’s commitment to advancing digital innovation, artificial intelligence research, software engineering, and emerging technologies to prepare graduates for global competitiveness. He also highlighted the institution’s CBT Centre and expanding technological infrastructure as key drivers of digital learning and research.
In his welcome address, the Dean of CICOT, Dr. Ma’ruf Oyelakin, expressed appreciation to the Proprietor and Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Prince Ma’ruf Adesegun Ajibola SAN, for his continued support and investment in the college’s expansion, particularly the development of new infrastructure housing Knowledge and Artificial Intelligence laboratories.
Dr. Oyelakin also conducted the Ogun Tech delegation on a tour of the newly developed ICT facilities, stating that Crescent University currently possesses one of the most advanced ICT centres and knowledge laboratories in Ogun State. He emphasized the university’s commitment to producing innovators, engineers, researchers, and problem-solvers capable of shaping Africa’s digital future.

Also present at the event were the Director of Abeokuta Business School, Dr. Muhyideen Ishaq; Coordinator of the Department of Software Engineering, Mr. Fatai Yisa; Coordinator of the Department of Cyber Security, Mrs. Shakirat Akee; Coordinator of the Department of Computer Science, Mrs. Badrat Saka; and Coordinator of Physical Sciences, Mr. Akanji Olaniyi.
